My name is Sofiia. I am a junior at River City High School. I am 16 years old. In the future I want to be a video/sound editor and I chose this class because I'm interested in film making and it will be helpful with my future job. My favorite movie is "Across the Universe" and my favorite TV show is "Stranger Things."

There are 6 people in our group. We went out to create our film. To create a one-shot story, we set camera in place and started an action. We had 5 actors and 1 film director. To create a multi-shot story we also had 5 actors, 1 film director and the same story. But the process of filming was different because for multi-shot story we need to film from a lot of different angles and in one-shot story, you're filming a story only from one angle. As a group we worked well. We shared ideas and helped each other to make our film a lot better. The editing process is really interesting. At first, I was a little confused, but with the teacher's and my group's help I understood everything. Since I'm now involved in the filming process, my views on film have changed. Before when I saw movies, I didn't pay attention to how it filmed. Now, when I'm watching movies I'm paying attention to how it filmed.

During the past week, we learnt different camera movements. We also filmed a commercial video to practice of what we learnt. My favorite shot is wide shot because with a wide shot you can establish the place or whole location and all the characters. At the moment, my least favorite shot is high-angle shot because during filming we had troubles with this shot because of the location we choose. The learning about all these shots/moves taught me a lot about cinematography. I learnt a lot of new shots and camera moves that I didn't know before.

This week, we worked on a TV Show Pilot. To make this happen, first we were supposed to write a screenplay, then do a costume design for our characters and the last thing is to film. Our story is about love triangle. The plot is that one boy, Alex, likes a girl(Abby) and this girl does not reciprocate and another girl, Elizabeth, who helped Alex tells him about her felling to him. The costumes are a dress for Abby, pants, shirt and a jacket for Alex and a sweatshirt and sweatpants for Elizabeth. Our location to film was the school quad. We filmed a lot of shots using the Master Shot. In my opinion, Establishing and Reverse Angle Shots brought our TV Pilot to the life the most.

Overall, I liked this class. I learnt new kinds of shots, how to do montage. I'm paying a lot of attention to films and how they created. In the second half of this class, I'm planing to learn a lot more shots and how to use them in my videos and in Adobe After Affects. I think one of my psychological barriers is worrying about failure. I think so because I usually worry about my project and how it will turn out. I'm always trying to get a good grade on my projects. My second biggest barrier is not making enough narrative content. When we did a script for our TV Show Pilot, I had a really hard time doing it. I didn't have an idea and in my opinion my script turned out bad, so we used a script from another person in our group. In the next term, I'm going try my best to overcome those barriers. I think my biggest success was my first editing video. It was my first time using a montage and Adobe After Affect and I got score 50/50. This experience gave me more confidence that I can do more and better.

This week we started a new project "Flash back". Before we started we learnt lighting elements as key light, fill light and back light. For our project we also needed an interview in the studio where we used all the light elements. The studio time affected my final product quality a lot. It created a flash back. Right now I'm working on the montage portion of my film. I'm doing a film about high school life. For this film I cut together the interview and shots we did outside, then I'm going to combine them, so I can make the whole story.

Last week, we watched a movie "Vertigo" by Alfred Hitchcock. A time when I felt scared is when the woman was at the Golden Bridge trying to jump from it. Film had a great sound and setting. I think it made film truly effective. This week we were filming a "Genre Crossover". I was a director and I thought I can make audience feel interested and excited. So for this project my group and I chose two genres, Film Noir and Action. I think we did a good job at doing everything to make audience feel these emotions.

You would earn the "Best Director" award for the way you produced the Music Video. You told us what to wear, how to dance, where to stand. Knowing how to fix the mistakes that actors can't see shows that you are a great director.
