I'm Zoe, I'm a singer, dancer, writer, artist, gamer, and I also run a Youtube channel. I already know the basics of editing since I've had my Youtube channel for 4 years but I hope to improve my videos with what I learn from this class. I'm not going into the film business after high school but I'm planning to major in game design and there's a lot to learn in this class that can apply to any art major. I don't many TV shows or movies but Kpop music videos are always amazing in terms of cinematography so I get a lot of inspiration from there.

While filming our one-shot and multi-shot films we worked together while filming to give ideas of how to make it better and more entertaining. In the editing my goal is to make the story flow and fit together as easily as possible. One of the biggest hurdles I faced was trying to find music to fit over one part of the film as it had a guitar being played in the video and I needed to find music to fit that. This whole process has definitely shown to me that film making is not as easy as it looks.

Consider the shots and camera movements we've defined, shot, and edited. Which is your favorite from those you captured for your commercial and why? Also, which is your least favorite shot/camera move and why? What has learning about all these shots/moves taught you about cinematography?

My favorite shot that I used in my commercial was the zoom in because a zoom in can be used in a serious manner or it can be used to make something more humorous. My least favorite shot was the low angle shot because it's pretty hard to find do. Learning about all these shot has taught me that making movies and films is much harder than i originally thought it was and requires a lot of thought and planning.

My screenplay was about a college student was in love with his roommate but couldn't find the courage to tell him, it ends with his roommate confessing to him. My design for the costume was pretty simple casual clothing as they're modern day college students. Working with a script was interesting and it definitely wasn't easy, we got around this by only using a couple lines in each shot so there wasn't too much to remember. I feel that the reaction and the slow-mo shots brought our show to life the most.

My two biggest psychological barriers when it comes to film making are my lack of creativity and my unwillingness to try new things. When I do something that works I stick to it and I don't try new things and I tend to do the same thing over and over again because I struggle to think of what else to do. This term I plan to do things I haven't done before in editing to try to change that. I think my biggest success moments in this class are whenever I figure something out in After Effects on my own and find new ways to make my videos more interesting.

Filming this project was really fun and it was nice seeing a higher quality shot with the lighting and background. The studio time definitely helped bring the whole video full circle and look more professional. For the montage we had one actor read a book from different angles to show progression over time. Our film focused on a man who finally decided to put some work in to become intelligent and in the end became more likeable.

For me I always feel the most suspense when watching horror movies when someone's about to get killed. Normally the set up and music in these scenes is what makes the suspenseful feeling truly effective. I think that making the audience feel on edge is most important as it keeps them interested and to do this there are certain shots and types of music that are used.

This course really helped me a lot and I feel like I learned a lot of things about editing and the film industry that I never knew before. I already knew basic video editing going into this class but I was able to learn a lot of things I didn't know how to do. I also learned a lot about what it takes to be a director and just how hard that job is as I was behind the camera in every video my group made. I definitely learned a lot from this class and I'm glad I took it and I'm hopefully that I can apply the skills I learned to my future career.
