My name is Christian. I like to play sports in my free time. I want to have a lot of money in my future. I have a job to try and start making money early. I like watching movies and listening to music because it just drains your thoughts and allows me to focus. I am hoping to learn how to edit videos well.

How do film-makers develop and convey stories within the mise-en-scène?
1) Give a fact from early film-making that inspired our work these last few weeks. 1)The camera was very big so the camera did not move and things went in and out of frame. We did this same film tactic with our One Shot Story.
2) Define and describe at least one concept regarding the Elements of Art that artists use while creating their films. 2)One of the 7 Elements of Art that artists use in color. Artist use color to set the tone of the movie. For example, they might use brighter colors to set a happier mood and darker ones to set a sad mood.
3) Also, consider the art works you filmed and edited; discuss your experience filming with a group and editing using new software. 3) It was fun filming with a group because you could bounce ideas off of each other. I also like editing on your own because everyone could put their own little spin on the video.
4) How, if at all, has your point-of-view shifted in regard to the art of film-making? 4) It made me realize how much work actually goes into making a film. We had to do a lot of work just to make one minute videos.

Why is cinema both the most realistic and also the most artificial of the arts? 1) Consider the shots and camera movements we've defined, shot, and edited. Which is your favorite from those you captured for your commercial and why? 1) My favorite shot that we captured was the tilt with the close up on the hydro flask because it made it really dramatic, along with giving the audience a good look at the product.
2) Also, which is your least favorite shot/camera move and why? 2) I don't really like the dutch angle because I feel that it's really hard to incorporate in the film smoothly.
3) What has learning about all these shots/moves taught you about cinematography? 3) This has taught me are underrated this occupation is because it's so hard to do and it's one of the most important roles in making a movie.
4) How do you feel shot type and editing play into the "reality" of film? 4) The camera is capturing what the audience sees, so whatever angle/shot the camera captures is how the audience will view it. The audience feels more or less connected to the characters based on the types of shots that are used.

How do filmmakers utilize the theory of montage as a part of cinematic language? And, how does this compare to continuity editing's voice in the cinematic language?
1) Describe montage in relation to how the shots are combined and compare/contrast that with continuity editing. 1)

2) Use example sequences from your "TV Show Pilot" to bring these two dialects of cinematic language to life.

3) How has your film-making, in regard to the process (writing/planning/filming/editing), grown since the beginning of the term? 3) In the beginning of the term I didn't know how to edit a video if my life depended on it. Now I know how to do transitions, text effect, cross fades, etc. I also think as an editor because when i'm filming I try to think of how I would edit the footage while I am filming it. I would say that I have grown tremendously in those aspects of this class.

On your blog share the ups and downs of your film making so far and how you plan to continue to grow in the second half of the class.
1) Do this by writing about your two biggest psychological barriers when it comes to making films, referencing ideas from the article "5 Psychological Mistakes that Beginning Filmmakers Make, & How to Avoid Them".1) I think that my two biggest psychological barriers are worrying about failure and not creating enough narrative content.
2) For each, provide an example of a barrier you encountered this term as well as a solution you plan to initiate in the second term to overcome this barrier. 2) For the tv pilot, I didn't write enough script and so I had to think of things to en cooperate as I was filming. For the commercial, I was so worried about not failing that I filmed too much to get the perfect shots and ran out of time. I plan to stop even thinking about failure when I'm working on a project and to try a write some more narrative before I just go out to film.
3)Then, finish off the entry by recalling the biggest success or ah-ha moment you've had this term. Provide details about what made it a great moment for you and how you felt you grew from the experience. 3) The biggest moment was probably when I finished my Tv show pilot because it really showcased how far I've come in terms of being able to edit. At first I could barely put shots together, but now I can cross fade, slow down shots, speed up shots, freeze shots, etc.
