At home I'm the 2nd oldest out of 6 but my older sister is moving to college in 3 days so I'm going to be the oldest. At school I'm just Vas, its short for Vasilisa. I stay out of stuff I don't care about and try to be as quiet as I can because I can get too loud sometimes. My aspirations for the future are that I wanna graduate high school and get into a good college. I like watching behind the scenes in productions so i find that stuff interesting. I want to find something that I truly like and enjoy doing because at the moment I have no clue.

Cinema is both the most realistic and also the most artificial of arts because when you record, you can record something and just leave it and it will be a plain video which is realistic or you can edit it and that would be artificial. My favorite shot is the medium shot because it's not too close up but not that far. My least favorite angle is the pan because i feel like it makes me look weird. Learning about these shots taught me that its actually really hard to record things. Shot types and editing play into the “reality” of film because you can edit anything and make it look how you want it to look.

So far my ups and downs in filmmaking are that I forget the storyline a lot during filming but I’m fixing that by following the script and even having a script. One of the mistakes that resonates with me the most from Simon's list is #2: “Caring too much about what's popular.” Sometimes I get really carried away with clothes and random accessories and just materialistic things and having and getting them that I forget to look at the bigger picture and appreciate all the things that I already do own and have. Another mistake that resonates with me the most from Simon's list is #4: “Worrying about failure.” I fail a lot probably more than the usual person so failure is nothing new but I still get really worked up when I do and sometimes failing is the only option in my case. My biggest success in this class, this term are the friends I made in this class because I don’t speak unless I’m spoken too most the time and the few people I talk to I have a very fun time with.

In the mid-20th century what sprung was the change is people's lives and all the new technical inventions. This influenced filmmakers today because they have so much more options. A genre that we studied was film noir. It was created after WWII. This classic genre influences the media today because it shows that women can be independent and get what they want. In our “genre crossover” we are using drama+comedy. We are bringing those genres to the film by making very dramatic effects while still keeping the story light hearted and funny.

One thing I discovered over the course of making short films that helps me pre-produce, film and edit is to take advice from people when they have an opinion. To also share my own. Something that I learned that helped me expand my creativity in film-making is the lighting because the way you set up your lighting effects so much. The studio changed my perspective on filming because it has actual professional equipment and I got to learn what goes behind the works.
