My name is Delayna, I am a sophomore at River City and I have always had a passion for performing arts and film. In the future, I plan on studying psychology as well as music. In this class, I'm excited to see the inner workings of film making and video editing.

Filmmakers use the mise-en-scene to develop the story with the focus and framing of the forefront and background of their shots. For our one shot, we set the camera in a place that was sure to capture every moment of our story but lacked the specific details. Our multishot required us to use many different shots, up close and some framed further away, and this let us capture more detail and make a more comedic scene. We worked as a group to decide what shots would be productive, clean, and humorous. I am going to be going the comedic route for the editing of this project. A hurdle that I am overcoming of this whole process was my absence on the day of filming, however my group did get amazing shots and still filmed what we previously discussed. Since beginning this class, my views on film has been technical and I have been looking for different sound, lighting, and effect tactics.

My favorite camera movement is zooming in because, when used in the right way, it can create a sort of strange humor. My least favorite shot would have to be the medium shot because of the generic nature; although when this shot is used in certain ways, it can definitely improve upon the film. Studying these shots has helped me see the intention and effort behind the angles and settings in films.

Logline: A team of high school freshmen discover their friend's secret super power.

Costumes: Normal everyday clothing, somewhat nerdy and unsuspecting. The characters are just awkward kids trying to get through school.

The pilot I shot with my group was The Adventures Of Kim and Timmy. This was a comedy/adventure and super fun to film. The script made it easy to get all the shots we needed and it was really fun to make the story come alive. I feel as though the way we captured all the shots really brought life into the story.

What are some of your biggest psychological barriers when it comes to making films? Share your ups and downs of filmmaking on your blog, and how you plan to continue to grow in the second half of the class.

Some of my biggest psychological barriers include, fear of failure and hating ideas once I've began writing them. I have high ups when I begin to film and edit a video. I love being able to see everything come together and the process of editing is tiring but loads of fun. However, the lows sometimes feel as though they out-weight the highs. I tend to get lazy or hate the original idea of what I wrote down. During the next half of this class, I hope to improve by not letting the little things get me down and by putting in all the effort I can to make the video I want.
