My name is Jose and I took Film 1 to improve my editing skills on videos. I am a senior at River City High School. I am still thinking about my future and haven't found a solid answer. I seek improvement and understanding of the production of videos and/or movies from taking Film 1.

Filmmakers develop and convey stories within the mise-en-scène by adding in creativity relating to their stories.

The process of creating the one-shot film and the multi-shot film was easy. For the one-shot film, a camera was stood in one place with someone watching it while two actors conveyed a story in front of it. The footage was then transferred to computers and then were edited. For the multi-shot film, the same story was told, but instead of having the camera stay in a single position, the camera was being moved to tell a different side of the story in between takes.

To choose which shots were going to be made for the multi-shot film, we first found an area to shoot and then debated which angle looked best.

I am looking at the editing process as an outlet for creativity to be added to the films.

Some success I have had in the first projects were learning how to play music over footage and adding text with animation. Some hurdles I had was trying to figure out how to add a fade-in and fade-out to some footage.

I have now gained respect for film directors and film editors as I have learned how much dedication and effort it takes to make a great piece of film.

My personal favorite of all the shots/angles we used for the commercial is the handheld. Handheld is my favorite because I can capture a shot with complete control.

My least favorite shot was the high-angle shot because it isn't really creative at times.

Learning and using all of these different shots taught me the dedication and effort needed to capture the shot that the director visioned.

The log-line, costume design, and ad campaign all are connected by portraying the same plot. The costume design is connected to the time which is placed in early 2012. The ad makes the viewer intrigued as they see three young individuals looking into a mirror where they see an older version of themselves.

The film my group shot and edited was a cool experience as we got to creatively add to the script and experiment with the shots that were required. The shot that made me feel the most creative was the pan as you scan an area to reveal the location or more facts of the story line.

Some of my biggest fears or barriers I have when it comes to making films are it having to act in front of the camera and me being a perfectionist I don't want to create something bad if i'm putting all my effort and work into it.

The ups of film-making is being able to create a piece of art and can express your creativity. The downs of film-making is sometimes not being able to fully express oneself because of limitations or restrictions (money, time, place).

I plan to grow in the second half of this class by putting into my projects 100% of my effort and try to be as creative as I can.

My experience with filming this project in the film studio with lights added more control for me. The lights also added a more particular kind of creativity as it changed the atmosphere. The time spent in the studio has greatly affected my final product quality as we were a bit rushed but we were still able to capture great footage. I approached the montage part of the film as a stepping stone toward becoming a great video editor. The way I put the video together I tried to make it like a professional interview with an "art school". The effect I want viewers to get is a informational/educational feel from the video.

For a feature film, my genre would creativity would be more from the crime film. I am drawn to the crime film genre because I see so much creativity and/or more times were I could apply some of my creativity. What I find most interesting about the crime genre is the stories you can tell. There can be multiple angles/point of views when it comes to the crime genre. I would hope the viewers would get a new experience from my film.

For the music video, we chose a rock song to match the theme of the video which was working out. The overall shoot was low-concept as it was just one person training. I am proud that I got to experience how a low-concept music video is handled.
