My name is Kylie, and I am a sophomore here at RCHS. I am a part of the RCHS Advanced Theatre program and RCHS's swim and water polo programs. I eventually want to go to a good college and end up in the theatre business. Since I am in Advanced Theatre and photography classes already I decided that the more experience I have that can help me in the future, there is a better chance that I can pursue a career in theatre. I figured by taking two different film classes, photography classes, and theatre classes, I'll have a good chance of getting into a college with a great theatre program and then pursue my dream of working in the theatre business.

The mis-en-scene is everything in the cameras frame and what the camera will record, this helps filmmakers determine what will be in a scene and what will be cut out. The process of making our one-shot and multi-shot stories was very simple, we planned what we were going to do, then we picked a location, staged it, then did and run through and recorded it. We all had different ideas and we basically just smashed them all together to make one big idea that we used for both our one-shot and multi-shot story. The editing process is fairly simple to me because I am kind of used to the system because of the photography class i took, the editing process was very similar. Our successes were, that we got it done, and our hurdles were when we couldn't be serious because we would start laughing and we would have to retake shots. I still think film is fun, so being the one in the films didn't ruin it for me.

My favorite shot was the medium close up of Jade saying "Frick you mom, you can't tell me what to do." My least favorite shot was the handheld because the camera didn't follow Julie the way I hoped it would. These shots have taught me that they bring meaning into a movie, for example if they show a man looking at someone from a low angle it means they look up to them.

So in my T.V Show Pilot we didn't use my script because I wasn't here to write one when my group decided on one, but mine was about 'be careful what you wish for', my costumes were just everyday clothes for people who go to old sac, mostly teenagers, and the young people who work at candy heaven. I designed an add for the one we filmed which was ' Exploring with the Explorer' and it was promoting our show because it would be an awesome television series. Working with the script was easy for me because I am in the advanced theatre class, but sometimes it was hard to get the angles we needed, I feel like the handheld shot that was following Gabe was the most effective because it makes you feel like you were there with him and he was talking to you and the new editing techniques are pretty simple.

What are some of your biggest psychological barriers when it comes to making films? Share your ups and downs of filmmaking on your blog, and how you plan to continue to grow in the second half of the class.

One of my biggest psychological barriers is that I'm camera shy, and I know that seems kind of stupid because I'm in theatre two, but in that class I'm just on stage, I don't have to worry about a bunch of people seeing it and replaying it when I mess up, if I mess up on stage it's done and it's over with but if it happens on camera, you can put it on loop and laugh at me or post it on social media and I can be totally humiliated and I don't want that to ever happen. I hope that in the second half of this class, I'll get over it, and be more willing when it comes to being in front of the camera.

It was really fun shooting in the studio, it is a totally different atmosphere than outside. The studio time didn't really affect the final product besides difference in lighting. The montage portion is kind of like a flashback, so the ending is first and then it rewinds like in the movie Memento. Our film is pretty cheesy so I hope someone laughs about it.

I think I will focus my creativity on either Horror, or Independent films. I like these genres because you have a very broad selection and there are no requirements for these types of film, you have a lot of wiggle room for imagination. I find these genres interesting because you get a look inside the writers mind and imagination, you get to see how these people think and I think that is really cool. I would hope that people would enjoy them and hopefully get something out of it, like a message of some sort.

We chose the song Sail by Awolnation and we decided to do a high concept video. The video consists of slow motion everyday things, like sitting, and running, which sounds boring but in black in white, is really cool and aesthetic. I am most proud of the fact that we actually were on task when we were filming and we got what we needed in the short amount of time we had.
