I am Bryan. I am currently a junior at River City High School. In Theatre class, I hope to be better at public speaking. I also hope to become better at memorizing scripts and lines since it will not only apply to arts such as music and acting, but in other subjects that i am interested in. I hope I will also become better at making my thoughts of 3D space into a reality. I know I will have fun in this class.

In a play, no one person is more important than anyone else. A playwright is an important part to a play, because they write the play and how it's going to be played. But, without the cast, the play will never be seen at what it was imagined. The crew helps bring the play to life by providing the set design and other vital parts of a play. All people work together in order to make something that people will enjoy, and without one another, it would be very difficult to make plays work.

I think my performance went well. Before, I was nervous of how the me and my partners would do. As i was performing it all went away. After performing though, I was worried whether I broke character or if I was able to convey my message through acting. I was also worried of whether i was facing the audience in the way i should've been. I started worrying about this after the performance because i was in the moment and was not really thinking of anything else except my performance.

1. My story began by brainstorming possible ideas for stories that would be interesting. I was reminded of an event that happened to me about a year ago, so i began re-writing that story.
2. Thinking of a spine, objective, and tactics has not aided to much in writing my monologue since it is based in real life. An objective that my character does have though, is to escape.
3. I would say my monologue is a tragedy, since it is based on a dangerous situation.

When I walked into the theatre, I didn't know what exactly to expect. I tried to keep my bias against typical musicals to the back of my mind, instead of thinking of it as I was watching it. I was watching the play and I noticed how lively the actors movements were. It seems like they wanted to take advantage of the whole room to make the audience feel like they were in the play. The story was interesting and the subtle (sometimes not so subtle) modernization of clothing and some speech made it feel more relatable. I liked the play overall because of the direction, story, and the actors amazing performance.

For the performance, I'm preparing myself by doing different voices when rapping or singing at home so I know how to manipulate my voice.
I plan to move around the stage at different parts of the play. I'm also going to use lots of hand movements as I always do in my regular speech.
I am going to apply the idea of moving near and next to the audience like I saw in the play because I feel the audience is more sucked into the play.

I felt that the thing that went the best while performing my monologue was my screaming. I felt that my performance would've improved tremendously if I had completely memorized my play. Watching others, I saw how important it was to be loud and articulate when performing.

The beginning concept for my set is a major city setting. The sky view of Tokyo inspired this setting. I am going make this a proscenium stage, since it is what makes more sense for something based in a major city look. A color that will appear a lot is the gray concrete jungle color. Repeating square patterns will appear.

My Creative process from the collage to the 3D stage design was pretty simple. I had an idea of what I wanted to do, which was a major city setting. I got other ideas of what to put in my design by going through google earth and google maps in big cities. Physically making my model was interesting since the way I imagined it, it would all be straight lines, of which I feel I did a decent job.

For my puppet, I was trying to cover everything and make it look as static as possible, but also be able to move it easily.
I struggled with making the hoodie, which I was able to make by strategically cutting a piece of cloth.
The mask under the mask stands out to me. Also the ability to have its arms together without movement but also detachable to make for easy grabbing and manipulation.
The idea of the mask under the mask came from some cartoon or something in which it reveals its face, but its just another mask. The rapper i based it off of, Ghostface Killah wears a similar white mask, with minimal design and holes.
I plan to make the character have a light voice with very dark actions, similar to the rapper Ghostface Killah.

I felt that the performance went well enough. The script was pretty well executed. I felt that I couldn't get my characters voice consistent and how I wanted it, though I was surprised of my puppet controlling, which I thought would be worse.

Though the play I performed is over 400 years old, it did not feel like it was old (except for the language). My costumes were pretty modernish since formal clothing in the time i wanted it set hasn't changed much in modern times. I believe Shakespeare remains relevant because it was written without a specific time in mind with lots of your mom jokes and other types that are still popular today.

My final scene performance is Eminem's Stan. I will be simultaneously acting out a little of what happens in the song. This song has always been intriguing to me, due to its detail and and meaning. This song has always gave me a very eerie feeling even before I fully understood the message it had. I want to give everyone watching that same feeling I had when I first heard the song and understood it, and the chills I get whenever I listen to it.

I feel my performance went way better than I expected. Something I would do different is rehearse a little more so I would know how my voice would be affected in different places of the performance. This term I learned more about public performance, including acting and just talking.
