I am Sangeeta. I took theatre because I love to experience the emotions you get when watching, and how you can be someone totally different. I hope this class will help me be able to act in front of people more comfortably.

In a performance every single person is just as important as the other. This could be in theatre or in films, either way to make a production you need every single job there. For example, without the actors there will be no performance. Without the playwright there will be nothing to perform. Without the director there will be no order or judgement on the performance. In theatre everybody works together to make the end result.

My mime performance was, in my opinion, pretty good. My group had a planned performance, we stayed in character, and the story fit all of our characters. Some things that I wish I could have done was try to make it more clear that I was a bear. Or maybe to use the space a little more. Going into the performance I wasn't that nervous because I didn't have to remember my lines perfectly since there was none.

To begin my monologue I tried to recount exiting stories of my past. I thought of each one and finally wrote down the one which would make the best story. When writing I didn't really think about different tactics but when I started to learn about them more I incorporated a few obstacles my character had to face. The genre I feel would be realistic fiction because some parts of the story I made up to better fit the guidelines of the monologue.

This week we watched the play "As You Like It". The story was interesting and I liked how there were many different side stories to follow but they all met up in the end. Although the language was hard to understand, they're acting helped show the story.

My monologue is finished now so I am just reading through it to familiarize myself with it. I practice acting out the emotion of the character and since the character is me I wont have to go in depth into figuring out what she's feeling. When I saw the play, I realized how much they could project there voice. So when I perform I will try to talk louder and sound more confident.

I thought I could have done much better when performing my monologue.Since I was the second person to go I didn't really know what I could and couldn't do. For example I didn't know that we could go backstage, which would have helped add to my performance. I also felt I could have moved around the space more really giving a feel of pleading. My story was sort of a rant so giving more emotion of anger would have helped convey that. However, I did like how I memorized some lines, making it easier to talk to the audience instead of a piece of paper.
When watching others I noticed things that I could have done better in my performance. Some people really came out of their "shell" and performed like I never thought they could.

My set design is set in a nature type of scene, but somewhat weirder. I got inspiration from all of the scenic pictures on my collage and the different city names scattered throughout. There are a couple of big props on stage and the character uses those props to show that she is confused. The colours are all pretty much natural. So there is no neon orange, etc. I like how you think it is like a normal forest but you see details that are not normal.

I took some inspiration from my collage to build my set design, such as scenery, Star Wars, and city names. I was proud of my creative thinking because I didn't know I could come up with such an elaborate story. While building my set I changed some of my props to fill up some space as well as have another thing for actors to interact with. Building the tree was sort of hard because there was no fake wood, so I had to take random brown items and hot glue it all together. In the end my set looked complete and like a forest. However, I wish I had painted the floor to match the background, but it still looked nice.

The puppet I decided to make was a mummy. Her name is Tainara and I love how I found the perfect fabric to act as bandages. I cut a giant circle of fabric to act as a drape over her and then I cut more of the fabric into strips, to tape around her face. It was hard to make sure that the strips covered every part of her face because I wanted it to look kind of worn down. When performing, I want her to have a powerful voice because before she died, she was a princess.

My puppet performance went well. I liked our story and I think it developed into a nice ending. However, during the performance my puppet's arm came off and it was hard to control after that. It was hard to read the lines because we couldn't flip the pages and control our puppets at the same time. I did enjoy watching the other performances except I couldn't really hear them.

I think that it's really cool that people still talk about Shakespeare today. Given that it is over 400 years old people can still easily relate to it. That is why it is still relevant in today's time. It's weird to think that the role I played was also played by thousands of other people before me.

My final scene performance is a short skit that uses the famous characters from Spider-man. However the story is original. Tiffanie and I were brainstorming story ideas and we just built the story along on top of the previous idea. We wanted to make the performance funny as well as be intriguing to the audience. There are a lot of props needed for this performance because we don't actually have superpowers and we use props to substitute for that. The hardest part for me will probably memorizing my lines because I'm scared that I will mess it up during the performance.

In my final performance scene I was happy how it turned out. We finished everything a little last minute but the performance went well. I was nervous about forgetting ,my lines but since there were only a few I was okay. I feel there could have been more of a story development and more details. Overall, I think the performance went nicely.
