I am Zulema. I am usually quiet and don't tend to fit in crowds. My goal in this class is to open up to more people and try to fit in society. I love playing characters, so i have a feeling i will like this class.

I think the cast and the crew are more important than the playwright because without them the playwright will only have scripts but no one to play them.

My experience during my first performance was fun. Everyone in my group performed outstandingly well and we even praised each other afterwords. It was good to know that I had the courage to perform in front of many people. Over all the performance was great and even fun to.

For my monologue i got struck with imagination. I was think of what my character would be like. where she lives, the people she knows and how they act. My character is showing a trait of worry for her brother who seems to have changed, just like the empire she calls home. I appoint the genre to be tragedy because if this were a real play that i would be directing, most of the characters would die.

The play I saw "As you like it" was very interesting. The characters were all very expressive and the background images helped to determine the setting. The fashion was strange for that era but nonetheless it was a great play. For my monologue, I will try to practice to myself and some friends hoping to gather enough courage for the actual performance. I will give my character for expression and sit down with a blanket showing that i'm on a bed.

I felt really nervous and felt that my monologue was boring compared to others. I liked how everyone shared their stories and how everyone had a different versions of stories. When i went up and began my monologue I felt nervous and scared but as the room began to silence i felt comfortable reading my monologue. I felt like i wasn't too loud and i didn't put much emotion into my words so i'll try to practice that.

I looked at my design and found myself drawing a book. I created a story for the book where people who are greedy or unhappy get sucked into the world the book holds. the book doesn't let anyone leave until they are forced into various trials the book chooses. The world i created is divided into the chess piece world and the card world. Chess is good at strategics and hold a peaceful and good nature aura. The card world holds a more distopian aura.

My set design was at first very complicated. I didn't know what to design so i looked at the art pieces. I was inspired to draw a chess kingdom and i thought the chess kingdom needed some other kingdom as a rival or as a separate world which ended up being cards. The original plot was for the two kingdoms to hate and fight each other for dominance but i decided it was too extreme. So i stuck with a troubling noble from the card kingdom always stressed and struggling because of insults and having to do the card kings dirty work. He wishes to become a writer and make the thoughts and imaginations to write. While reading a book near a secret spot of the castle, he meets the chess princess and together they talk about their different worlds and have different conversations. I thought the plot of the story was a struggle because i didn't know which plot to use. The people and the floor was very hard but i was able to overcome it. The card kingdom was extremely hard because i had to do a lot of measurements for each card piece and waiting for the paint to dry was very exhausting too. Otherwise it was fun and i'm proud of the result.

I made a sketch inspired by a character who looked like a girl but tricked his friends into believing he was a girl only to fool them in the end. My character is European, and he has 2 side kicks who accompany him in whatever he does. The challenging part was the shape of the head and the nose. I didn't know how a nose was actually shaped, so i used my imagination. The gown he wears is dress like, hoping to give a princess like appearance. He is a noble who comes from a family where they have a high esteem for their actions and wordings.

It was very funny and the people who played the puppets really brought them to life. It was hard showing the puppets without standing, but fun controlling the music. Over all this group project was great and it went better than i thought.

My experience playing in a Shakespearean play was interesting. We learned how to speak old English which was hard and difficult, but we managed. the costumes and props were very nice to help get more into character. and the ability to act as someone else in an audience is quite impressive.

The final performance was very fun and a bit scary because I had to reveal a horror story that wasn't really age appropriate. It was incredibly entertaining because the performances were really good and you can really tell that the groups and individuals worked really hard. Drama this year was incredibly fun and I will continue being involved in it during plays or even class. When I went on stage, I was incredibly nervous because I was afraid people would find my horror story a bit too graphic, but they actually enjoyed it. What I really enjoy in drama was how everyone was able to work in groups and they all had a job. Kinda like a family, everyone knows each other and works well with each other.
