I am Michelle. One of my goals is to own my own restaurant and bakery. I am seeking from this class the ability to not be afraid to speak to others.

This week was a bit good. We learned about playwrights and we did some fun activities to get a bit comfortable with what we might be doing in the future in the class. Although I didn't really feel like I was that comfortable after doing the activities, I feel like I'm getting a bit more comfortable little by little.

I think my group and I did a good job in our performance. We practiced until we were able to control our laughter which was really helpful. We also got comfortable enough to talk to each other and talk about any of our ideas that we could have to make our performance longer and better. Although it wasn't as funny as other group's performance, it was still pretty good and long enough.

Regarding your Group Mimed Performance: You appeared ill-at-ease as you often were facing away from the audience. Was this to hide your laughter? Consider working on remaining "open" to the audience.

My character is a sponge who's voice has changed into a girls voice and still attends boating school even after he's been in it for 12 years straight. I will physicalize this character by talking with my regular voice and by being very energetic and happy. I will be preparing to present next week by going over my monologue and trying to memorize it as much as I can. Some feed back I might want would probably be did I talk too fast or too nervous?

Regarding you Monologue Performance: You did speak very fast. Likely because you were nervous. You had great volume, though I would have liked your voice to have taken on a more "spongy" quality!

Writing my monologue was pretty easy. Almost everything in it was already coming together since it was just based off of what my friends and I talk about almost everyday. It was a bit easy when I was writing down all my topics and things to include but it was a bit difficult putting everything together and having everything move on and flow smoothly since there were many different things going on which in my opinion, is hard to put together to sound like an actual conversation. It did take some time to decide what will be in it and what will be taken out because I usually had to wait until the next day to know what to add since it was all just based on everything we talk and laugh about.

I loved you monologue! It was hilarious! You were so into it, though it would have been nice to see a bit more of acting. I could tell you really enjoyed the process. Despite the fact that you struggled with it flowing, in my opinion, it went from beginning to end very smoothly. I enjoyed listening to it. You are creative and beautiful! I love sitting next to you, it's so helpful with the creative flow. I loved how upbeat your monologue was. It definitely helped keep the room buzzing and bright.

Michelle, you're monologue was so cute and funny. It took some serious subjects and turned them into something fun. I think you did great on your monologue, and also that squid-ward character is so annoying; who is that about?

I guess my story derived from my favorite TV shows and people I like to watch and my love for the different types of architecture and different types of colors. It is coming to life in my set design by there being an old abandoned building that has windows that have been boarded up and there being zombies and trash and just streets being trashed. Basically the way you would see the TV shows but not that amazing looking since I'm not a pro designer. I'm going to capture the mood by not adding so much color and just simply making everything old and add some broken objects like the same way you would see an abandoned city. The quality shown in my collage will reflect upon my design by adding a well taken care of house that has been surrounded by traps so that people could live in and I might add in a big desk with a ton of information and maps and things you basically would need and think are important.

My own collage goals are to probably get an education and to either get more insight and learning about either creating my own businesses or about joining like some set design because I really enjoyed making and designing a set even though it was basically hell because it took me so long and it was sort of stressful but it was fun and awesome at the same time. I might want to join classes or take some classes in the future that include hands on activities because I really learn better but I don't know for sure what steps I will be taking in the future because I might change my mind.

Today's performing arts still sort of relate back to their roots but not as much. I feel like the type of feel they have to it has changed. For example, they use to talk with deep and very loud voices but now they talk with different types of tones and emotion in their voice due to advanced technology. Comedy masks are probably so commonly seen today maybe in order so people can understand what type of person they are and are able to see them and understand from a far away seat.

Building my puppet was pretty hard because I never have build a face using clay. First of all the facial features have never been my favorite to do but since my character was human, I forced myself to try and build it. It didn't come out how i wanted it to. I know I could have done better though. Also a setback is that air dry clay because it is honestly the worst type of clay to work with because if you need to take time to figure out what to do or to improve a certain feature, you wouldn't have enough time because its air dry which annoys me a bit because I'm use to using oven bake clay which you can always remodel or fix until you bake it. Either way the clay making part was pretty difficult. So was the clothing because I, again, never have made puppet clothing which I think is difficult. It definitely is probably something I would work on more if I had more time in order to try to perfect or at least improve. The play in general was pretty good in my opinion because it included all of our weird and different characters and still created a good story which is pretty hard to do at some point.

In regard to your puppet play performance: Your puppet looked really great. The time and effort you afforded to the creation of the face really paid off in the detail and beauty of the final product. The sad part, after all the hard work you put into the face, was that your puppet was often facing upstage, which made it difficult to see. Your puppet, like a human on stage, needed to cheat out, so more of the body and face can be visible to the audience.

I believe one person's work could be so highly popular because probably all the hard work one person could do and that they could have it written so perfectly and worded differently. I feel good about taking on one of his scenes for my next project. It's pretty cool I guess.

The last play I have watched was Beauty and the Beast in 6th grade so I don't remember a lot but I remember the costumes were really nice. They seem exactly how they were in the movie. The dresses were about the same and so was the clothes of the bad guy if I remember correctly. Someone else was wearing it. Belle was the main character and was wearing a white dress with a light blue apron looking cloth on her front of the dress and had a long sleeve top. I don't think they did so well if I wasn't able to remember it and the only way for me to remember what it looked like was thinking about what she was wearing in the movie.

I feel like I laughed a lot during the play. I think I did pretty good for the first time of having to do a play that has everything from remembering lines to costume designs.

My performance piece is about how two girls go on a trip but then forget to fill up the car with gas so the car stops in the middle of nowhere. Then the two girls decide to go up to a house that looks abandoned above a hill but when they get up there, a lady looks over and angrily tries to get rid of them, then decide to try to kill the two girls. One of the girls ends up betraying the other and teaming up with the lady. She ends up knocking the lady out and stabbing the other girl. And that's it. We are putting together everything by talking about how we can improve everything and what we need to do as in actions that we are going to have to act out. Some of my thoughts would be that the beginning is a bit confusing but the ending makes up for it with some fighting action. I don't think we were actually hoping the audience would actually take anything away from our performance due to the fact that it's just for entertainment and doesn't have an actual moral or anything that you could learn form it. Unless something they could take from it is don't trust anyone.

Regarding your final scene 'The Wooden Door": I think you and your team did a great job coming up with a very original and creative plot considering the constraints of the space and the time you had to develop it. The plot points were distinct, yet I feel that some of the exposition between the action was lacking, leaving ht audience confused about the progression of some of the plot. I appreciate how you stepped out of your comfort zones and did stage combat! The audience was entertained , as you had hoped and you should be very proud of your creative venture. Congratulations.

In general, I think our performance went really well. My group and I worked on it really hard and are happy with how everything worked out. Even though we had some confusion, we still communicated well in order to have our performance come out good. It was pretty fun and funny to do because some of the things like being dragged across the floor aren't things I usually do but when it happened, it was pretty funny.
