I wanted to see what it was like to experience acting, and possibly script/ creative writing. I love writing and creating and envisioning worlds that I've created. It's my dream to see people act out and attempt to play and be characters and their reactions in situations that I, myself, have created.

This Week's Question:
1. Who is more important... the playwright or the cast and crew? Defend your assertion with your logic and some examples.

Even from simply writing a script you can feel and understand what the cast is trying to say by reading it. Without a script a cast has nothing to perform. That's why even in our English classes at River City we read the script of the plays Romeo and Juliet and Mac Beth instead of actually watching a live version of the play.

2. Also, how did your first performance in class go? What did it feel like before, during, and after?

I was a bit excited and nervous at the same time. I wasn't really sure how to feel afterwards because since I wasn't the audience i don't know what it looked like in their eyes.

Reflect on the process of writing your monologue this week:
1) How did you begin? Did you brainstorm, get struck by a spark of imagination, or begin with by recounting a personal story, etc?
2) Has thinking about objective and tactics aided in your writing of an interesting story? Give an example of a tactic your character is using...
3) What theatrical genre would you call your monologue at this point and why?

1) My monologue was an inspiration of a story that I wrote previously. When I decided to do it on the story I wrote everything just kind of clicked in my brain and I started writing immediately.
2) Defining the tactics helped me kind of dig deep into which emotions my character was feeling when he said certain things. Like regret or compassion.
3)I would call my monologue tragic and dramatic.

1. Give a synopsis of your story and the character you're going to portray.
The character is talking about a car crash that she experienced a while back and the strange emotions she felt when it happened. It stems to why she wants to move out of the house she lives in with her family.

2. What are you doing to prepare yourself for the performance?
I'm going to try to perfect how my voice should sound when I do the performance. So that i can display projection and emotion at the same time.

3. How might you bring physicality to your character?
I wanted to bring in a chair and a table to have during my performance so that I can use certain body language that project my upset emotions while I'm doing the monologue.

1.Describe the beginning concept for your set design. What elements of your inspiration collage did you draw upon?

I wanted it to be horror since i had some horror movie pictures in my collage. And on my collage i had several different eyes and some popcorn and other snacks. So i thought that it could be like a drive in movie theater. Because the eyes represent the people watching the movie.

2.What is the basic stage scene you're setting in your design? Is there a strong design concept yet it regard to style, form, texture, color, etc.?

The entire stage is just a rusty red truck sitting on some hills and in front of the moonlight. And off stage is supposed to be the supposed movie playing.

Reflect on the creative process of working from inspiration through to presenting your set design. What were the ah-ha moments of inspiration and the challenges you had to be creative to overcome?

I can really see how my collage helped me create my set design. It first started out with some popcorn reminding me of the movies and then it became the basis of my entire story. My first Ah-ha moment was when I realized that i realized that i could do a drive-in movie theater. I really wanted to do a movie theater because a lot of the things of my collage related to that but i also wanted it to be outside because i love night landscapes. So when i came up for the idea of a drive-in i was really excited. I was a bit confused on how i was supposed to start my truck and when i found out i made it too big i was a bit conflicted but it ended up turning out okay.

What's your overall impression of the growth of your creative muscle through the process of this project?

I actually really like how i was able to think of all these ideas from just some simple pictures i cut out because they caught my eye. I think doing this process will be helpful in the future for when i need to be creative.

Tell about the process of creating your puppet. Give two examples of how the character you were creating influenced design choices such as painting the facial features and costuming.

I wanted to create a sinister evil character. So I used dark and dull cloth to create a evil witch look . It kind of represented her evilness and introverted character.

Also, reflect on your puppet play performance. What was challenging and what went well?

I liked our script and working on it with our group members. It was a bit challenging to make my voice louder while instantaneously doing the voice.

How do you feel your voice performance went? How did you enjoy watching the other puppet shows?

I rally didn't like my voice performance as I said before and I didn't really like my voice either because I wanted to be creative with it but I really didn't know what to do without feeling weird. But I really really love the performances other people put on because they were really funny and enjoyable to watch.

You have likely studied Shakespeare prior to this class, or at the least were introduced to him and his work this week. Reflect on why you believe one person's work could be so highly acclaimed and how you feel taking on one of his famous scenes for your next project.

It may be because Elizabeth the 1st heavily supported Shakespeare and the theater in general. He wrote heart heart wrenching tragedies and tear jerking comedies.

Our performance is a murder mystery with some comedy involved. It's based off the movie and the board game, Clue. So each of the characters and their personalities is based off the original movie and game but we are taking our own original spin on it. Basically a bunch of horrible people are being invited to a dinner to be blackmailed. But a murder occurs and it is up to these degenerate guest to find out who dun it?

You will provide a Self-Evaluation Reflection on your blog following your performance basing your comments on the Evaluation Rubric’s criteria: Acting, Use of Space, Text, & Process.

I think I did pretty well for the acting. A lot of the cues were off so I had to say other people's lines and do some improv. I should've change my body language and opened myself up to the crowd more. We rehearsed lot and i memorized all of my lines but it became kind of became usesless when we got up there since it was a lot of improv. Some things went wrong be cause we were counting on the light to go off while Yvette died but it didn't work out.

Also, take a moment to reflect on the full semester. What's something you gained from this class that you feel you'll take with you?

I feel like I'm way more confident in my ability to present in front o other people and my writing and ideas. I've been writing various different stories because i was really inspired by this class.
