Right now, I'm just a kid going through high school, taking life experiences on the way. In the future, I plan to still be myself and have my same level of creativity, if not more, but more professional. The professional part can wait though, for now. I hope that this class helps me have more courage and bravery than I have now, with the in-class performances and stuff. I also hope that more people can learn about me and who I really am.

1. Who is more important... the playwright or the cast and crew? Defend your assertion with your logic and some examples. 2. Also, how did your first performance in class go? What did it feel like before, during, and after?

In my opinion, the cast and crew are the most important. The cast and crew are the people who really make the play come to life and actually act it out, but the playwright is just the minds. You can always do improv if you have to. My first performance went really well to me! I wasn't really nervous or anything, and it was pretty fun.

Reflect on the process of writing your monologue this week:
1) How did you begin? Did you brainstorm, get struck by a spark of imagination, or begin with by recounting a personal story, etc?
2) Has thinking about objective and tactics aided in your writing of an interesting story? Give an example of a tactic your character is using...
3) What theatrical genre would you call your monologue at this point and why?

When I began thinking about my monologue, I was lost for words and didn't know what to write about. Then I started looking and listening around the class, and a lot of people were playing minecraft, so i decided to make mine about minecraft. Thinking about objectives and tactics didn't really help me to be honest, I just tried to get into the story as much as possible. I would call my monologue comedic, but also full of sorrow.

Reflect on your monologue performance. What it like in preparation and anticipation? What was your experience during the delivery of your monologue? What parts do you feel went really well. What parts so you know you'd want to improve upon? Also, what was it like being an audience for your peer's monologues?

Overall, I don't think my monologue performance went that bad. I wasn't really nervous at all, and although some performances were longer, I think my monologue lasted a good amount of time. I felt comfortable while I was speaking in front of everybody, but I also feel like I could've done better when I said the "THE CREEPERS" part. It was pretty cool seeing everyone else perform their own piece that they worked on too.

Describe the beginning concept for your set design. What elements of your inspiration collage did you draw upon? What is the basic stage scene you're setting in your design? Is there a strong design concept yet it regard to style, form, texture, color, etc.?

When I first started my set design, I was completely lost for ideas, so i started looking through the magazines. I cut out some random cool looking things, like ice cream, plants, people, clothes, and a beer bottle. After that I decided to make two pathways, with some different items on each path. I mainly did this because I had a really good picture in my head of what it would look like in the actual set design. There isn't really a strong concept I went off, but I did want it to look like an outside nature habitat.

Reflect on the creative process of working from inspiration through to presenting your set design. What were the ah-ha moments of inspiration and the challenges you had to be creative to overcome? What's your overall impression of the growth of your creative muscle through the process of this project?

Overall. it was a pretty fun new experience making my set design. I went through the process of drawing it out, mapping it out, and then actually putting it all together in the actual cardboard set. Some ah-ha moments were when I was making the portals and then realized that they would fit good at the end of the trail, and when i decided to make broken bottles to put on the ground next to the beer sign.

One ah-hah moment I had from this digital meeting was hearing about how the old guy, ken, had started making his own Broadway shows in his house, at the age of 12. And then by the time that he actually tried to become a producer, he already basically knew a lot of the jobs of a producer because he was his own producer.

You have likely studied Shakespeare prior to this class, or at the least were introduced to him and his work this week. Reflect on why you believe one person's work could be so highly acclaimed and how you feel taking on one of his famous scenes for your next project.
I don't think there are many other people who's work could be as talented as Shakespeare's was, and I don't think there ever will be. I think his language mostly captures people's attention, and then the storylines just bring them away. I hope I do a good job in his scene and can bring justice to it.

Reflect on your "A Midsummer's Night Dream" scene performance. Offer insight into what it was like taking direction, memorizing lines, and performing a famous Shakespearean work.

I think i did a really good job in my Midsummer scene. I had to go up all 3 times, so I had some time to perfect my art. The first two times, I didn't memorize every single line, but by the third one, i had it down. I also used an accent to get more laughs out of the crowd.

This reflection should explain what your performance piece is about, how you’re putting it together, and what some of your thoughts and influences are as you’re constructing the performance.

For my performance piece, Julian and I are doing "Dimension Hopping", which basically is us going from planet to planet in space, and coming along some minor complications. Some shows that influenced our choice are The Trailer Park Boys, and the movie Interstellar. Space also interests me a lot, so I thought why not do a play about it.

You will provide a Self-Evaluation Reflection on your blog following your performance basing your comments on the Evaluation Rubric’s criteria: Acting, Use of Space, Text, & Process.]
Also, take a moment to reflect on the full semester. What's something you gained from this class that you feel you'll take with you?
My last performance for Theatre 1 was a pretty good experience and it was a good way to end off the year. Julian and I used the whole stage and also parts of the audience in our play, and I think it made it that much more interactive. We tried to make it pretty funny too, and I think it worked out. I think I gained some more confidence from this class when it comes to being in front of people.
