Us doing the storybook plays in front of the people we performed for was a nice experience. It was fun hearing the kids laugh and yell at the most exciting parts of the play. It brought me closer to the drama class performing in front of people that we never met and performed for. I never expected kids to watch these types of plays. The TMNT one was the best because I think that most of the kids watch that cartoon a lot. I usually don't smile, but when i went up stage it made me smile when the kids started laughing at what I was wearing and when i chased the other people in my pirate ship play.
sometimes i never feel like performing, but when the day comes i am all excited to performing the play. i would look into acting as a future career because me performing in front of random people it has brought me closer drama. Performing in front of those first graders, they were the most energetic audience that we ever had. If we had another oppritunity to perform in front first graders I would take it because they laugh really easy.
i really miss our drama class. wish i can come back and do some skits with everyone. I miss drama class of 2016-2017.
Doing the storybook theater was so much fun. The children were so CUTE. I love children they were all a fantastic bunch of kids. the administration office was a bit more difficult but the news team killed the whole thing it was awesome. This was also fun because we went to 3 different places and adapted to their stages. My favorite part of all this was the YES! movement we had at the end. What can I say, people love wrestling.
To be honest, I wasn't thinking about it too much before we actually went out and performed. It wasn't that big of a deal to me because every project was so short and we wore our costumes for each play over our regular clothes. But once we got to Southport and Yanna went out to start talking to the kids and we heard their response, I was immediately into it. It made me so happy hearing and seeing all of those kids enjoying themselves while they watched us. When we got to the district office, it was still fun performing in front of all the adults there. I'm glad we got to perform our news skit. Stonegate seemed very enthusiastic about our performances as well. I'd like to thank Mr. Hanks for letting us perform at these places (and for getting us KFC). I would totally want to do this again.
This show that was sadly our last was the best. Me being the head turtle and Lind-en the bear was pretty fun. I had so much fun with the little kids because they were so cute and so cooperative with us. I loved that whole day and I wish I could relive every moment I've had with this class. This trip also made me realize that this class has turned it into a family. And with that comes the perks of a family such as hate, love, and trust. This class has made me a happier person because I've made so many good friends in this class. I sometimes hate everyone in the class but at the end of the day. They are the ones I can call "my friends". Much love to all of them
i loved playing the part of a wolf in my Narnia play and that working with others helps build teamwork also the younger kids were energetic and laughed during my other play. i think that pursuing a career in drama would be fun and that this was a good experience.
The Storybook Theater was a different experience than the other productions we did. The process of the stories took about a week and a half. At first we had many different ideas, that made it complicated at first. We were guided however, by the influence of Mr.Hanks. He reminded us that our shows didn't have to be over the top but still a great performance. Our ideas then had to stick to stories with important morals. In order to teach the younger audience what to value in life.
I LOVED THE STORYBOOK THEATER!!! The little kids were so cute (^.^) but, my favorite part of all the performances was the weather skit with Shannon and I.
I really want to thank Mr. Hanks for everything, what ever he makes he should get a raise!!!!
For the Storybook performances, it took us about three weeks to direct, correct, and perfect the plays. Mr. Hanks had broken our class into three groups which we got to chose by ourselves. Along with having our main group their are other group members from different plays helping other plays out. After choosing our groups, the groups had chosen what play we all wanted to do. The groups had to compromise on the topic of the play which took us only one or two days to figure out. The groups had taken one to two weeks to script the plays and start performing. We were assigned group roles like director, props, marketing, costumes, and logistics. Each member of the group took upon their roles that were assigned. After rehearsing the plays for couple weeks, we took our plays to the Washington District Office, Stonegste Elementary School, and Southport Elementary School. This experience was fun because the kids were very into the play and we got many fans in the play. I love performing for little kids.,
It was fun and exciting being able to perform in front of a younger crowd. The children were excited, energetic, and very interactive during and after the performance.
The theater was exciting and it was amazing i loved everyone and it made me happy. I really feel like i had a bond with everyone there. I will miss everyone. this experience has changed my life. i will always look at drama with more of a passion now thank you advanced drama of 2017
Creating the Storybook mini plays was lots of work. We planned, wrote and put together the whole thing in a matter of weeks. It was awesome being able to create our own little plays that little kids would be able to see. Directing was a hard, it's hard to get everyone organized and paying attention. It made me really appreciate Mr. Hanks for the fact that he puts up with us through the whole directing a production process. Since our show was on the road we ended up having a mini stage that we took with us and set up at every show. It was interesting to have to take every prop that was needed for the shows with us everywhere we went. We had to make sure nothing was forgotten. There was a lot of hard work put into it, but it was definitely worth it. The kids really had a good time, were excited and had lots of fun. It was really awesome being able to bring something for the kids to enjoy. We also performed for our district office, which was a little intimidating. We weren't sure if they would enjoy it since the target audience was kids. However, they laughed and had a good time so we were relieved and had fun. Every school that we went to had a different sized stage. For one performance we would have a huge stage, lots of space, and for the next we would have to be careful not to push each other over the edge of the stage. It was cool how we were able to adjust and just keep doing what we came to do. The whole Storybook Theatre experience taught us more about responsibility. We had to bring props and create our own plays, we depended on each other. Advanced Theatre has been an amazing class and I'm excited for future productions!
The storybook theater served as a test of our independence without Hanks' assistance. Twas fun making a play about the ninja turtles and playing the part of the best ninja turtle Michelangelo. I missed the performance at southport but showed up to the administration office clutch.
Enthusiastic students in this Theater Arts class is the reason I come to work daily. To teach and mentor these future leaders along Mr. Hanks is such an amazing experience. As an educator I feel that I have learned more from them, than they have from me. I thank them for their respect, sense of humor and professionalism in and outside of the stage and class. The Storybook Theater was a hands on production. They did the original writing of the script, costumes and made up positive stories that had a morale to entertain the elementary school aged kids. All of the performances this past year will be a treasured memory for a life time. Learn all you can, not just theater alone. No matter what happens it will get better and bigger. Just wait and see.
