  3. Do this for a total of 10 images
  4. Note on each slide if you feel that it's a well framed shot or not

CJ14: Color in Film

Collect examples of color schemes in film.

Requirements:
  1. Create a google slide show titled "Color in Film"
  2. Choose 2 still images from films to highlight each color (ROYGBIV)
    1. One example should show the predominant color in use throughout the whole scene
    2. The other example should be that color use as an accent

Requirements:
  1. Create a new Google Slides titled: My Favorite Genres
  2. Highlight two distinct genres you most appreciate with pictures & key content about the genre
  3. For each genre, write an "Artist's Statement": consider why you would find working in this genre meaningful for you and/or others

CJ12: Special Effects Make Up Design

Draft a concept for a character that requires special effects make up.

​Requirements:
  1. Draft a special effects make up design in your journal or template, or use a digital platform
  2. Consider the face makeup and hair styling, or perhaps it's a mask or helmet
  3. Use color, detail, & texture to bring your character design to life
  4. Have reviewed in journal, hand-in, or share to submit

CJ11: Lighting Design

​Create a visual glossary of film lighting.

Requirements:
  1. Create a Google Slides deck titled: Lighting Glossary
  2. Create a slide for each of the LIGHTING GLOSSARY and pull an image that shows that type of lighting in action
  3. Be sure to include the definition
  4. Share on Google to submit

CJ10: Storyboard

Create a storyboard to show a still visualization of a film project.

Requirements:
  1. Sketch the eight shots from your recent montage project (or other finished project) on the provided storyboard template or recreate the template in your journal. 
  2. Be sure to add in the moments of text and try to identify movement within the shot.
  3. Identify each shot by its type of camera move, e.g., long shot, tracking shot, medium shot, etc.
  4. Minimum of 8 shots depicted... 12 maximum. 
  5. Have reviewed in journal, share/email, or hand-in.

CJ8: Ad Campaign

Create three drafts of an advertisement campaign to accompany your CJ6 screenplay &/or "TV Show Pilot"

Requirements:
  1. Consider the style & mood of your screenplay/TV Show Pilot
  2. Create three total drafts:
    1 large format ad - like a billboard
    1 medium format ad - like a t-shirt
    1 small format ad - like a mobile ad
  3. Be attentive to consistent use of the elements of art to unify your ad campaign products
  4. Finish your ads with refinement & attention to details
  5. Have reviewed in journal, hand-in, or share/email for color printing

CJ7: Costume Design

​Create a costume design for one of the characters you developed in your CJ6 screenplay &/or "TV Show Pilot"

Requirements: ONE OR THE OTHER
  1. HAND DRAWN
    1. Plan & research designs for a character: design should have at least 2 inspirations written about or attached
    2. Use templates, or draft your own models, to sketch a detailed costume design for one character from your CJ6
      1. Be sure to use color & fine details to bring the work to fuller fruition
      2. Add fabric swatches to complete your design task
  2. DIGITAL MOOD BOARD
    1. ​Create a digital version of your designs, pulling pieces together to complete a "mood board" for the vision
      1. Use Google slides/drawings to curate collections of clothing for two characters, include their character name on the slides
      2. 2 elements of research/inspiration must be included
      3. Add your name to the slide(s) so when printed it appears with your work
  3. Have reviewed in journal, hand-in, or share/email for printing and grading

CJ6: Screenplay

​Draft a screenplay for a scene or two in a brand new TV Show Pilot (first episode).

Requirements:
  1. Use the Screenwriting Kickstart 
    to guide your thinking for the week
  2. Draft script in Google Docs
    (2-3 type-written pages) 
  3. Follow daily guide to build upon your script and to match it to the

CJ5: Movie Poster

Create a movie poster making smart use of the elements of art.

Requirements:
  1. Use your Design Thinking from CJ4
  2. Create a fully realized poster no smaller than 8.5"x11"
  3. Be attentive to wise use of the Principles and Elements of Design
  4. Finish your poster with refinement & attention to details
  5. Note: may be hand drawn or digital

Requirements:
  1. Choose a film to create a poster for from the list of movie loglines found on the Movie Poster Design Worksheet
  2. Use your journal to brainstorm and sketch each of the 6 prompts
  3. Draft a rough version of the poster
  4. To be peer-reviewed in journal

CJ3: Character Analysis

Check out this article how actors must dig deep into their characters to play the roles well. Imagine the backstory of a character of your choosing by answer a series of acting considerations.

Requirements:​
  1. Choose a character to explore in depth
  2. Copy the questions on the Character Analysis Worksheet
  3. Answer all 20 character backstory questions in your journal
  4. To be peer-reviewed in journal

CJ2: World Building

Read this article on 5 Keys to Building the World of Your Screenplay​. Then, create a world of your own.

Requirements:
  1. Vividly describe/draw the location of this world
  2. Create a character(s) and describe how they interact with their location
  3. Identify something in your world that is unique to only this new place/character
  4. List three "rules" for your world that are always true in this creation
  5. Consider a story that might take place in this world and create a "Working Title" for a movie that could capture it!
  6. To be peer-reviewed in journal
