Introduction to Professional Theatre
(STAGE 1)
Year: 9 - 12
RCHS Graduation Requirement: VAPA UC/CSU: F Put on a happy/sad face for the study of dramatic history and the rehearsal and performance of scenes from plays of these periods. Tune up presentation skills with the study of acting techniques and body control. Explore the creative process through writing and the design of sets, costumes, makeup, and advertising. Group and individual projects and at least one major production a year are included. Participation in public productions is mandatory. |
Advanced Theatre Performance
(STAGE 2)
Year: 9 - 12
RCHS Graduation Requirement: VAPA UC/CSU: G Prerequisite: successful completion of Stage 1 Further your study of theatrical production through the experience of creating a number of productions from inspiration through to closing night. Design concepts will grow into practical fabrication of costumes, sets, and props, and progress into the technical running of performances. Alongside, acting techniques will take center stage as rolls will be cast, rehearsed, and performed in a number of theatrical styles and local venues. Ready yourself to be cast or crew at a theatre festival, a fully realized play, the school's spring musical, and in a local tour to bring the performing arts to kids. Required - 24 hours minimum participation in public performance as cast or crew member. |
