"Rough Magic"

Hi, I'm the one who played the evil old guy who is also a sorcerer. Which was a little challenging considering that I am, in fact, a teenage girl. But I thought of it as a fun sort of challenge knowing that Prospero is the type of character that I will never get to be again (probably). It's fun to try new things and I consider this one a success.

I was happy for the open chance to be creative with the costumes for the characters AND actors for the play. I can imagine what a lead role could wear next, and what the villains shall wear as well.
However, I can't truly say that I did all of the work.
Mr. Hanks, and Sariah helped me out as to where most of the items were, as well as to create the final product of an idea(s) I had for the characters.
Needless to say, whether I get a lead role, side role, or become part of crew, the only thing I'll say is how much fun I had.
Despite not being able to be as social as I wanted.

There were some times where i messed up bug time, but i had told myself to calm down a bit and succeed. The show was overall great! the people enjoyed it and so did the productions company. We all learn from mistakes, and i think we're able to improve bit by bit.

The subject... is fabric!
Rough Magic was such a fun show!! It was a little awkward playing a drag queen since I'm a female, so I was really just more of a club lady I guess?? Regardless, it pushed me out of my comfort zone haha. I loved my cast in this show and being backstage was almost as fun as being onstage. A great show with great people is always a great time! (Also I got to get my makeup done by Stella every night...bonus!)

I played Caliban. He is a buff half sea devil. I am neither of those things, but I think I made it work. He was a fun character to play because I got to act with my close friends. I usually play more comedic characters, so this was a bit of a change. I was also a lizard person at one point. That was wild.

Hi, I'm Lauren and I played Linda Summers. I liked playing her, no matter how unlikable of a character she might be. It was weird having to be mad at CJ who played Melanie, when in reality I could never be mad at her. I don't really consider myself a mean person (most of the time) so it was weird playing someone who was. But I enjoyed other parts of her, she was energetic in an unsettling sort of way, and was really fascinated with things such as Shakespeare, which I am too. Rough Magic was the first non musical play I'd ever been in, and I'm really glad it was. Modern Shakespeare and drag queens from Ancient Greece are the recipe for an amazing show and I'm so happy that I was a part of it.

Typing is hard. Anyway. Rough Magic was a good experience, it was fun and it helped me get closer to the people in the theatre program. It helped improve some of my skills better. I played Chet a teenage lifeguard boy who died. I kissed CJ on the lips and it was wild. Okay that's all.

Rough Magic was super fun, I got to try and kill CJ, sadly I did not succeed, but there's always the next show.

Rough Magic gave me my first lead role. I played Melanie Porter, a dramaturg with the ability to summon characters from plays. It was fun to be super sarcastic and try to play a 30 year woman at 16. I filled my head with lines to the point of adding them to daily conversation. The cast and crew have my heart. I'll never forget this opportunity and the groovy peeps I got to share it with. I kissed Miles on the lips and it was wild.
