STAGE 2: REFLECTIONS

"The Hysterical History of the Trojan War"

Practicing for our play was a long process. It was hard at first to say our lines when we went upstage because we didn't know how to stage ourselves. As we practiced our lines more and more we got better.

The teamwork process went really well because we helped each other by telling each other who goes on stage while the others were all backstage. So we all reminded each other on what to do and how to stage ourselves in front of the teacher. We all helped each other out by giving the right person their props and telling them when their part was coming up so they could get ready when they go up.

When we performed for the first time in front of people that we didn't know everyone in the class was a bit nervous. So when the other people went up on stage they were not nervous at all. Everyone in the class didn't break character and they did not mess up on parts that that kept messing up on.

The people in Drama, I have a better relationship with them than I do in other classes. Taking Drama 2 is so much better than taking Drama 1 because the teacher directed us on how to stage ourselves so there is more movement than just staying still. I have a better relationship with the teacher because I talk to him about things i don't talk about with other teachers

my first couple of days have been phenomenal, i have learned a lot in 3 days and just by watching mr.hanks critique the actors i have learned plenty of skills that i have accommodated i am going to take these skills that i have seen and use them in future plays, the people in this class have made me feel welcomed and even though its only been a couple of days i have already been felt like im being put in a family im hoping to feel more comfortable in the future.

I was the assistant director (even though I could have actually been in the play) but it was fun to help out my class and see the whole thing come together. It's a funny play, and I think they pulled it off. I already love this acting family. Aww.

Yeah I agree with you Shannon. You did help me out a lot being the assistant director. It was amazing to see how the whole thing came together.

I enjoyed practicing for our play and being assigned the role for Poseidon it was hard at first because I just transferred to the class but when i first started i didn't know my lines but then i got them down.I think the teamwork was great and we did very well also we got along which I think is like a first step to building a team. when we first performed i actually had stage fright but i got over that and when i performed the second time i was way more comfortable performing.and lastly i think the people in drama is awesome, funny, and goofy.

When I first enter this class I thought it would be a little more difficult and I would not achieve it but as time went by, I looked at all my partners when I had a problem and during this time I learned to have more confidence with them and I know they are Very good people and the class I like because you learn many things that can help you in the future, and you learn to communicate more with people.

And thanks to Mr.Hanks because he always has many ideas to continue teaching and his class always makes it fun and you learn something new every day.
I will try to continue doing my best because I want my friends to have a memory and I of them

At the start of the class it was kind of long. On the second day of school we started auditioning. At first we were pretty serious about getting our lines memorized. After that we had fun learning staging.

During the real performance, most of us we nervous. But I overcame by just pretending like we where still rehearsing. I knew I messed up but my family and friends that came didn't know because I continued to go, no stopping. I just left the lights and the eyes, and I felt myself sweating.

I had a lot of fun with my Drama 2!

The first play we did was really fun and interesting. I had one role playing Apollo when we started and then i got the part of Ajax. i had to memorize lines for two characters but it wasn't that hard when you start doing it and its fun. I met people who are really cool. We did the "The Hysterical History of the Trojan War." It's a great play and we have a lot of different and awesome personalities. Now we go to Lenaea and we will take the win. First or last there is no second place.

OK. On the first day of class I thought this class wasn't going to be fun and going to be boring. I turned out to be really wrong. This class is like the only class that I look forward to everyday. I literally hate all my other classes but this class really makes me feel at home and comfortable. I hope to make so many memories and have a great time in this class. This feels like a separate family and I am happy to say they are

This was a truly amazing experience. During casting I thought I might have gotten a smaller role, but was surprised when the role I received actually had lines it! In the beginning I was nervous but Mr. Hank's outgoing, funny, and comforting personality made it easy and enjoyable to practice and perform "The Hysterical History of the Trojan War." On the day of our first live performance a student ended up not being able to come so within twenty minutes I had to remember the empty role's lines and actions while having to quickly change out of my first roles costume into the second roles. Afterward we were greeted by family members and loved ones, it was heartwarming. I am proud of everyone for doing so amazing especially when the tension was so high. Everyone did great and had so much energy. I don't what I would have done without them.

The last couple of three to four weeks have been a lot of hard work, rehearsing and staging ourselves to have a great performance at the Lenaea Festival. It was a very long process to get to where we are today.

When we first auditioned for the play we were all definitely nervous and we didn't really know each other. When I first auditioned, I had memorized my lines, but sooner or later I did forget some of my lines because I let my nerves get the best of me in some parts. I was fortune enough that I got to play a goddess named "Athena".

We soon got to know each other and relatively got closer as we started working together. We would mess up and restart just to make the scene perfect as much as possible. Backstage we helped each other remember our cues and memorize our lines. I would ask for help from Yanna (my friend) to help me memorize my lines.

When we first performed in front of an audience some of us nonetheless all of us were quite a bit nervous. I honestly felt like I would have a panic attack, but I got some friends to help calm me down. Our first night was such a success that some of us were not even nervous for the second night.

Overall, the performance was such a success and now we are on to the Lenaea Festival. Shutout to the performers and break a leg! :)

I have always been looking forward towards this class. I was stoked that I got to play the part of Paris a goofy teen like boy. A relatable character. During our show "Another Opening" I was excited rather nervous. Now onto Lenea

The first day walking into the Theatre 2 class was super exciting. We were told everything that was expected of us and what the next few months of the class would look like. We then auditioned for Mr. Hanks and were assigned our very first roles for the class. We then spent many hours together, prepping and practicing.

When it was finally time to perform we were nervous but also very excited. Once we got out there and spent some time out on the stage we weren't nervous anymore and just had so much fun. We accomplished so much in a very short amount of time. I am proud of my drama family and am excited for what comes next!

It is amazing to see the students participate in character with their roles. They ALL have star potential. My encouragement is to go for it. Dreams and opportunities only come once . Believe in yourself and not what others believe for you.
