Lasting memories: Singing together and working to sound great in unison, our recordings sounded amazing. When Ben said stuff about the pacer test at the end of his solo stuff, other solos doing great. Takeaways: Use a more of diaphragm, its okay to mess up sometimes but work harder to also get to where you wanna be.

It was really nice to get some insight into how music is recorded, and the tips and tricks were helpful. It was nice to hear how good we sounded, much better than I expected, so I imagine that memory will give us more confidence with singing. It was also really fun, if that means anything.

I really enjoyed doing the vocal workshop, with it being one of my favorite parts of the trip. Being able to work with a professional who has thorough experience in the industry will definitely stick with me and hearing her advice for all of us as a group definitely helper me improve on my sound.

After being a part of thespians and working shows and running shows, I have a immense respect and a bit of understanding to the people who work at Disneyland and to the scale of their sets and the difficulty of building, designing, and rigging them to work properly. I've not been in over 8 years so now returning and being able to understand how everything works and the magic behind makes it even better and is a good glimpse into how theater skills can transfer to places outside of just the stage.

A lasting memory I made during the Vocal Recording Workshop was watching our singing of the Muppet Show theme song be played over the actual Muppet Show opening. I’ve loved the Muppets for forever and it was so fun to get to sing the song with the AVE group. My biggest takeaway was to not be afraid about singing beautifully while being in character. I’ve been really worried about singing pretty, but singing in a silly character voice is insanely fun, especially with a group as talented as ours.

I will always remember the awe and pride I felt when I heard the final products. I knew we sounded good, but to hear our voices and only our voices, was so surreal. One takeaway is I need to be more confident in my voice. People were very supportive and I was really touched. Another takeaway is that our group is really good, we just need to be able to have an end goal to look for. When we had a goal we could complete both songs with ease.

Definitely the Finished product and seeing my friends go up and record!!! Gave me insight into how a recording session for Music and vocals work, and it was really fun!!
A big takeaway when it comes to the workshop helping me for the musical in particular is how to work a character into a voice! It also helped us all with working in unison and music Que work, along with understanding how to read and Understand music a bit more :)

A lasting memory I have from the workshop is getting to see sing the Muppet song with everyone. I just thought it was so fun and I like being able to sing as a character! I will take away that instead of being nervous and in my comfort zone, I just need to step out and do it.

The Imagination Campus Vocal workshop was able to explore incredibly useful information while offering it in an engaging manner. I have no experience in singing or choir, but was still able to takeaway amazing ideas regarding business, school, and technique. Despite the varying skill levels and experience within our group, we were able to come together and have an incredible time that will be remembered.

I absolutely love the Workshop. I think a lasting memory for me will be the the video of all our voices together. My big take away was how to open you voice and what you body can do with your voice.

Having the experience to have our voices recorded as a group and in a few solos was an amazing experience. I feel like it solidified the fact that we can actually do this and sound good.

I really think that this workshop has really made me more confident in my place in theatre, and as a person who enjoys and wants to pursue the arts. Almost as if theatre going to the workshop was a way of saying, “ hey, we are serious about this, are you? Prove it” it really assured me about my commitment for theatre. I loved how well we sounded together under a brief time, and I really appreciated being able to be recognized as someone who is worth a solo. I think the workshop in itself is a lasting memory, but hearing both performances finalized on the screen made me so happy

I will be taking away the life long lesson of pushing myself past my comfort zone and just going for it. Prior to this workshop I have had little to no experience in participating in a vocal workshop or even singing especially with my diaphragm. Learning to sing in such a manner allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and use "every single one of my muscles from my head to my toes" (Vangie Gunn).

I’m always going to remember how magical it was, listening to our recording of How Far I’ll Go, when the groups voices came in for the first time. We all were singing with so much passion. Listening to choirs sing together is always powerful, but knowing that it was our group, and all of our voices was so special to me. I went into the workshop feeling kind of tired, trying my hardest to be professional, focus, and participate, but by the end I couldn’t stop smiling.
It was fun to see friends from the group get to record solos, and it was great that so many of them got to be funny. Benjamin’s was hilarious, and seeing Robyn and Momo go up was perfect.
I learned so much from working with Vangie Gunn, she was literally the perfect instructor. She made us feel comfortable, and was so kind and passionate for vocal work, and gave me so much insight into the workings of the industry. Seeing behind the scenes how recording sessions go, learning how to use the headphones, watching the process for recording multiple parts over several takes, and hearing about terms, tips, processes used in real recording sessions. She told us about how she always leaves one ear out of her headphones because it allows her to blend better with the voices around her, she taught us about tricky terms used in professional singing like “pedalling C” (which just means that the part stays on that note the whole time), and we learned that standing close together to create a block of sound leads to better audio recordings. It was also so cool to learn about doubling audio, to see that it makes a group sound so much more powerful, and to recognize it in songs that I hear now. She was genuinely so encouraging of each of us to break out of our comfort zones, and to pursue futures in the arts. It made me happy to see how much she values working with this new generation of artists, and how she wants us to keep making art and doing what we’re passionate about.
In terms of singing, I learned so many valuable things. By halfway through the session, I was singing the loudest and most comfortably that I ever have in a group setting in my life, and I could feel the difference in how comfortable my voice sounded and how well I was projecting. Even just the warmups that she taught us are super helpful, and I’ll definitely be using them in the future. She was constantly giving us important information and tips about how the way that you hold your physical body impacts your voice, and how to keep it healthy. I feel so much more confident in my ability to healthily project my voice and take stronger breaths now. We also learned how to better blend with a group, and I really appreciate the tips that she gave us for blending in when we run out of breath and have to merge our voices back in with the group.
She had so much passion for singing, and her mission to reach out to people with her voice inspired me, and I have so much more appreciation and respect for professional singers and the value of their work for society. Learning from her gave me respect and appreciation for all artists, and the fact that their genuine passion for their craft and their goals at reaching out to others with their work are strong enough to help them overpower the extreme difficulties that come with trying to find stable work in the arts industry. I just love interacting with adults in the arts who decide to work with the younger generation. It makes me so happy to see them living successful lives working with their passion, and encouraging us to follow in their footsteps. The workshop genuinely felt like a once in a lifetime experience, and it has given me so much inspiration and confidence for a future of being involved in the arts. I loved it, and am so thankful that I got to experience it.

The memories I made in Imagination Campus will keep me inspired and filled with magic. I learned that I should always step out of my comfort zone and that no matter what, I will always be supported.
